Ronald Koeman could become Everton’s new manager next week
- New owner ready to make Koeman among highest-paid in Premier League
- Manager is under contract at Southampton until end of next season
- Club wanted to extend contract but he has grown frustrated at player sales
Ronald Koeman will become Everton’s new manager next week if the Goodison Park club can agree a compensation deal with Southampton.
Saints are demanding around £3.5million to release the Dutchman even though he has only a year of his contract at St Mary’s to run.
They have initially refused formal permission for Everton to talk to him after being stunned by the 53-year-old’s change of heart about his future.

Everton’s new wealth provided by Iranian billionaire Farhad Moshiri is beginning to take effect
But that is little more than a delaying tactic as Everton’s new wealth provided by Iranian billionaire Farhad Moshiri begins to talk.
Koeman went on a family holiday to the Caribbean having turned down initial approaches from Everton discussing a salary of around £5.5m, and told friends he planned to negotiate a new deal with Southampton when he returned.
But a new contract offer worth a staggering £7m a year is now being prepared for the Dutchman on Merseyside, and more significantly a transfer budget of up to £100m to allow him to build a team to chase a top-four place. Moshiri, who paid £87.5m in February for a 49.9 per cent stake in the club, has agreements in place to increase his shareholding which would then trigger further investment in transfer funds.
Everton have also looked at Sevilla manager Unai Emery and former Ajax boss Frank de Boer, but believe Koeman’s track record in the Premier League makes him the perfect fit.

His sucess at St Mary's has left Moshiri believing the Dutchman is the best man to spend his millions
In two years he has guided Southampton to seventh, then sixth in the Premier League, despite the club selling around £135m worth of top players including Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne and Luke Shaw.
That, coupled with his record of winning three Eredivisie titles while manager of Ajax and PSV as well as the Copa del Rey with Valencia, has left Moshiri believing he is the best man to spend his millions.
Koeman recently wrote a column for Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf claiming that he had got the very best possible from Southampton’s players.
And significantly, he mentioned the £250m spent by his big rival Louis van Gaal in two seasons at Manchester United. Now he could be close to taking his turn at the summit of the big-spending Premier League.
Everton - who endured a miserable season - do a lap of honour at Goodison Park at the end of the season .
