BARCELONA KNOCKED OUT OF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE!

Neymar, all fast feet, was pushing Juventus back, Iniesta willing to support inside as Alba went outside, and although the Italians are a side comfortable under pressure, there were hints that Barcelona could hurt them. Luis Suárez had a shot blocked and then Messi controlled just inside the penalty area and, with Giorgio Chiellini rushing out to him, pulled his shot past the post. He would have expected to hit the target. Neymar shot wide, then Sergi Roberto volleyed over and Iniesta cleared the barThe momentum was building, Barcelona playing high up the pitch. Gianluigi Buffon saved from Messi, who then slammed the rebound into the side-netting. Suárez could only skew a volley wide.If the chances were not always clear-cut – Messi apart – they were growing in number; by half-time Barcelona had taken nine shots, and the ball had been theirs 63 per cent of the time. Juventus defended well and in numbers. There was also always the risk of the home side being caught on the counter. The most concerning came when Higuaín slid in to connect with a low volley from close range.Half-time came as a watershed and a disappointment to the immense majority of the 96,290 people here. Emotionally, there had been a need to get a goal by then. Juventus stood firm; Barcelona’s energy was always likely to drop. They always knew this would be harder than the previous round against PSG: Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci are no easy pair to pass in defence, even when midfielders Sami Khedira and Miralem Pjanic could be overcome. And there was always Buffon. Messi had never scored against him.The truth, though, was that while the shots racked up they rarely troubled the experienced Juve goalkeeper. Neymar fired over the bar then played a sharp one-two with Messi, whose attempt was also too high. Gerard Piqué soon copied them. For the visitors, Juan Cuadrado ran into space on the right and went close at the near post. So often Juventus’s outlet, he had already fired one warning; this was another. Messi continued to carry the fight to Juventus, curling a low shot beyond to the far post and a high free-kick over the bar on the other side. As Barcelona grew desperate, striker Paco Alcácer came on for Ivan Rakitic.More attackers did not mean more chances, though. Neymar and Piqué tried, Messi too – his right footed volley from seven yards was the best of them – and so did Javier Mascherano soon after he was introduced. But this was not to be and everyone here knew it.They kept coming but there was no real sense of desperation, no collective hysteria or wild acceleration, no anticipation either. Barcelona had needed three goals, and as it went into the last 10 minutes they still needed three. They could not get one – not here and not in Turin. With two minutes to go they chased the fourth official appealing a penalty, but the protest was in vain. The previous 90 minutes had been too. Finding a way past Juventus proved an impossible task that Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Monaco will not relish

Mbappe Scores As Monaco Go Through To UCL Semis

Mbappe scores again to send Monaco through to CL semis

Monaco took its 3-2 first-leg advantage and stormed into the Champions League semifinals with a 3-0 home second-leg win over Borussia Dortmund.
Kylian Mbappe scored the opener very early on, and Falcao also struck before the 20 minute mark to send Monaco well through.
Just three minutes into the match, Benjamin Mendy burst forwards cutting inside from the left flank, and he rifled a shot on goal. It was straight at Roman Burki, but powerful enough that the German could only parry the shot. The rebound fell straight to two streaking Monaco attackers, and it was Mbappe who struck a shot off Burki’s hands and into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
The goal makes Mbappe the first player in Champions League history to score in his first four knockout game appearances.
Then, in the 17th minute, Falcao headed in from a wonderful Thomas Lemar delivery, and Monaco was well and truly through.
With Dortmund down big, manager Thomas Tuchel brought on Ousmane Dembele in the 27th minute. Tuchel had come under fire for not starting either Dembele or Christian Pulisic. Nuri Sahin hit the post with a brilliant free-kick in the 14th minute, the best chance Dortmund had in the first half, and they would find a response soon after the halftime break.
Dembele was the creator as Dortmund hit back, finding a tiny window of opportunity on a pull-back to Marco Reus in the 51st minute as the German club made it 2-1. They still needed two more goals, however, to force extra time, and the mountain was too much to climb. Tuchel brought on Pulisic with 18 minutes to go, but he was powerless to change the tide. With 10 minutes to go, Lemar scored Monaco’s third to put the game to bed, and sending the aggregate score to 6-3. The goal means Monaco become the first team in Champions League history to score at least three goals in four straight knockout games.

Chelsea Deal for Morata Agreed?
Lurking in the Spanish press this morning is a little something relating to the acquisition of a striker.

Our associates in the Spanish media vehicle, Gol, are not just inferring that Chelsea are interested in this striker but that an agreement has been reached with his club.

The club in question is Real Madrid whilst the striker in question is somebody that has appeared in the same sentence as Chelsea Football Club in many a sentence in recent weeks, one Alvaro Morata

If that is the case then the acquisition of the 24-year-old striker will be a welcome one but what concerns me is that, behind the scenes, has the deal been done on the back of a possible move to the Bernabeu for Eden Hazard?

I`m sure I`m probably not alone in wondering if our jewel-in-the-crown will arrive in Madrid on the back of a part-exchange!

But what are your feeling on the above subject matter?

Bayern Munich trio Thiago Alcantara, Robert Lewandowski and Arturo Vidal reportedly had to be removed by police from referee Viktor Kassai's dressing room after the German club's 4-2 UEFA Champions League defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday.
According to Jose Luis Sanchez on El Chiringuito (via Sport), the three were unhappy with Arturo Vidal's sending off and Cristiano Ronaldo's two offside goals as Bayern were dumped out at the quarter-final stage after extra-time of the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Chelsea stand to win their 5th Premier League title if they replicate their form from their reverse fixtures

The race for the Premier League title is continuing to keep fans guessing after Tottenham closed the gap on leaders Chelsea to just four points over the weekend. The two are set to face off for a place in the FA Cup Final this weekend in a huge game which will no doubt create even more talking points for who is going to end up winning the title.
Chelsea have a more favourable run-in on paper according to many fans and pundits alike and by looking into the results in the reverse fixtures, it is clear to see why that is the general consensus.

Chelsea’s remaining fixtures:

Southampton (H)
Everton (A)
Middlesbrough (H)
West Brom (A)
Watford (H)
Sunderland (H)
There is no easy game in the Premier League but Chelsea play four of their six remaining games at Stamford Bridge. The reverse fixtures saw Chelsea take maximum points and while the title race is still in their hands, Antonio Conte’s side will want his side to get the job done as soon as possible.

Tottenham’s remaining fixtures:

Crystal Palace (A)
Arsenal (H)
West Ham (A)
Manchester United (H)
Leicester City (A)
Hull City (A)
Spurs have been in incredible form of late, but there is no doubting they have some tough fixtures in their run-in. Unlike Chelsea, four of their last six are away from home, while their two remaining home games are against top four chasing Arsenal and Manchester United.
If Mauricio Pochettino’s side do not improve on their results in the reverse fixtures they have very little chance of winning the league. They drew against Arsenal, lost to Man United, drew at home to Leicester and won the other three games, giving them a total of 11 points from a possible 18.

While it is unlikely both Chelsea and Spurs will replicate the exact same outcomes in their remaining fixtures, it does give some insight into potential results. Chelsea would hypothetically finish the season on 93 points, if they picked up the maximum 18 on offer, while Spurs would stand to take 11 points, putting their final tally at 82.
Are Chelsea going to win their 5th Premier League title or will Tottenham pull off an incredible turnaround?
