Strike out? Cheryshev celebrates his opener - but it could be the end....
Real Madrid risk being thrown out of Spain's premier cup competition after appearing to field an ineligible player in their Copa del Rey clash with Cadiz on Wednesday night.
Russian winger Denis Cheryshev started the game for Los Blancos in a heavily-rotated XI and even opened the scoring in the first few minutes.
But it has emerged that the 24-year-old should have been serving a one-game suspension in this competition after accruing three yellow cards in five cup games last year for Villarreal.
Cadiz fans partied as the news filtered through in the first half, singing: "Benitez look at Twitter, we're going to win this game because Cheryshev can't play!"
The worrying precedent for Madrid is that Osasuna were last year thrown out of the competition after fielding an ineligible player.

Three strikes: Denis Cheryshev was booked too many times for Villarreal
An expulsion from the Copa del Rey would be a significant blow for Rafa Benitez, who is desperate for silverware and already facing an uphill battle to get back into La Liga's title race.
And it's a touch of déjà vu for Rafa after his Valencia side were thrown out the cup in 2001 for fielding too many non-EU players for two minutes against minnows Novelda

BARCA HITS SIX PAST VILLANOVENSE TO CRUISE TO THE NEXT ROUND

Barcelona vs. Villanovense: Score, Reaction from 2015 Copa del Rey Leg 2 Match

Barcelona vs. Villanovense: Score, Reaction from 2015 Copa del Rey Leg 2 Match
Sandro netted a hat-trick as Barcelona booked their place in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday with a 6-1 second-leg thrashing of third-tier Villanovense at the Camp Nou.The first leg ended in a surprising 0-0 draw, but Dani Alves andSandro put the hosts 2-0 up in no time to calm any nerves for the Catalans.
Juanfran's rasping drive from the edge of the box just before the half-hour gave Villanovense a tiny sliver of hope, but further goals from Sandro and Munir El Haddadi's double eventually saw the home team run out easy winners.
Barcelona provided both starting XIs ahead of kick-off, with Luis Enrique unsurprisingly making a number of changes from the weekend:
The Liga giants wasted no time in finding the first goal, Alves netting in the fourth minute with a wicked strike from over 30 yards.
The Brazilian found himself in space in the inside-right channel and let fly a screamer to open the scoring, per football writer Cristian Nyari:

Barca's second string looked more than comfortable in the opening exchanges, Adriano and Sergi Samper both having attempts on goal as the visitors could only chase the ball.
Sandro then doubled the lead after 20 minutes as he took full advantage of a gift from the visiting goalkeeper.
Attempting to pass out to his right-back, Jose Fuentes only succeeded in giving the ball straight to Barca's 20-year-old forward, who curled his finish into the top corner.

Following another spell of dominance from the hosts, Juanfran pulled one back for the minnows in 29th minute.
In a rare foray forward from the visitors, Juanfran received the ball just outside the box, and his dipping, right-footed strike soared past the flying Jordi Masip.
Even the home fans were impressed, per Spanish outlet Sport:

However, it did not spark an unlikely comeback, and Sandro restored Barca's two-goal cushion two minutes later after being put through on goal by Aitor's defence-splitting pass.
Enrique made a change at half-time, putting 20-year-old midfielderGerard Gumbau on in place of Alves and pushing Adriano back to right-back.
The defending Copa del Rey champions did not let up after the break as Munir made it 4-1 in the 51st minute.
The young Spaniard headed home Jeremy Mathieu's terrific cross from the left and nearly made it 5-1 four minutes later when he drew a sharp, low save from Fuentes.

Barcelona were happy to keep possession as the half wore on, and Sandro claimed his hat-trick in the 70th minute, firing home from 12 yards after the ball had fallen kindly to him in the penalty area.
Munir then netted his second to make it 6-1 as he finished off arguably the move of the match.
Sandro's backheel from a defence-splitting ball opened up acres of space in the box, and Munir eased a left-footed finish into the open net.
It was a clinical and nerveless performance from the Blaugrana and sees them easily through to the last 16 as they look to make it back-to-back Copa triumphs

LIVERPOOL FC RUN RIOT AT ST. MARY'S AS REDS HIT SIX PAST SOUTHAMPTON..

Southampton 1-6 Liverpool: Reds run riot in League Cup rout

Jurgen Klopp‘s Liverpool overran a miserable Southampton on Wednesday night, hitting six past Maarten Stekelenburg to seal a League Cup semi-final.

League Cup Quarter-Final – St. Mary’s Stadium – Wednesday, 2nd December, 2015
Goals: Mane 1′ – Sturridge 25′, 29′, Origi 45′, 69′, 85′, Ibe 73′
Fielding a half-rotated side for his side’s trip to the south coast to take on Southampton, Klopp saw his bold approach rewarded with a 6-1 win at St. Mary’s.
The German made six changes to his starting lineup from Sunday’s 1-0 win at home to Swansea City, with a first start of his tenure for Daniel Sturridge.
The 26-year-old striker joined Divock Origi and Adam Lallana in attack, ahead of a three-man midfield of Lucas Leiva, Emre Can and Joe Allen, while Connor Randall came in for Nathaniel Clyne in defence alongside regulars Martin SkrtelDejan Lovren and Alberto Moreno.
Replacing Simon Mignolet as Liverpool’s goalkeeper for this League Cup clash, Adam Bogdan made only his third appearance for the club.
Team spirit proved the difference on the night, as the Reds dominated amid calmer conditions than Sunday’s windswept victory.

It took Southampton just 42 seconds to go 1-0 up, with Sadio Mane headed home from Ryan Bertrand’s cross, giving Bogdan no chance from point-blank range.
Both Can and Moreno were at fault despite a pedestrian forward move from the Saints.
Victor Wanyama almost came close to give Southampton a double four minutes later, but Bogdan was on hand to catch his bullet header after a fine cross from Dusan Tadic.
Southampton’s early opener set up a tense contest, with a number of late tackles flying in in the middle of the park and some high-tempo, end-to-end football enthralling St. Mary’s.

As the intensity heightened and the pace increased, Sturridge came to the fore.

Firstly a perfectly weighted through ball from Allen set the former Chelsea man through to fire home beyond a flailing Stekelenburg, before a finessed pass from Can gave him the simplest of first-time finishes to put Liverpool 2-1 up before the half-hour mark.
The travelling support revelled in Liverpool’s show of strength and fortitude, as “we are Liverpool” rang around the stadium, and their enthusiasm was rewarded further before the break.
Following through as Virgil van Dijk cleared Lallana’s corner, Moreno drilled in a powerful strike from 30-yards which was turned in by Origi.
Misery rained on Ronald Koeman as the two sides went in for the interval at 3-1.
Southampton started the second half the brighter side, no doubt following an outing from the hairdryer during the break, as Koeman’s side pressed strongly and pushed the ball into dangerous wide areas.

But with Liverpool proving their defensive credentials in the opening stages, Klopp saw fit to withdraw his star striker, with Jordon Ibe taking Sturridge’s place on 59 minutes.
The travelling Kop stood to applaud their two-goal hero, who will be looking to preserve his fitness for Saturday’s clash with Newcastle United.
One player who will miss that outing, however, is Can, who—rather questionably—received his fifth yellow card of the season on 66 minutes.
Origi ensured Sturridge’s absence was not felt too harshly, giving Liverpool a fourth goal following some great lateral movement to thwart a sluggish Southampton defence.

Ibe, provider for Origi’s second, added Liverpool’s fifth just minutes later, taking the ball down on his chest inside the penalty area before drilling his shot low into the bottom corner, with the travelling Kop turning it up to 11 in the away end.
Despite Southampton battening down for damage limitations as the final 10 minutes played out, Liverpool continued to relentlessly press in the final third.
Origi’s endeavour was flourished with a third goal, with substitute Brad Smith delivering a pinpoint cross to gift the 20-year-old his hat-trick with a simple header.
From a nightmare start to a dream ending, Liverpool’s feel-good factor continued with another rout.

“Our men left immediately and rounded them up”, he said.

female suicide bomber kills eight in maiduguri

Eight People Killed in Suicide Bombing in Nigeria's Maiduguri

A female suicide bomber killed herself and seven others in northeastern Nigeria on Sunday morning as officials screened people fleeing attacks by Boko Haram.
Eight others were injured in the explosion at 10:40 a.m. on the outskirts of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, the state’s police commissioner, Aderemi Opadokun, said in a text message.
“Since the internally displaced persons were coming voluntarily into the town, it was decided that they had to be screened to avoid the insurgents mingling with them,” the chairman of Borno’s emergency agency, Ahmed Satomi, said separately by phone. “Just when the screening was on, one woman with explosive devices strapped on her rammed into others.”
Boko Haram, seeking to impose its version of Islamic law on Africa’s most populous country of about 180 million, has stepped up suicide attacks since President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the military to defeat the insurgents by the end of the year. The group has killed tens of thousands of people since its campaign began in 2009.

8 Killed in NE Nigeria Suicide Bombing: Relief Agency
KANO, NIGERIA:  Eight people were killed Sunday when a female suicide bomber detonated her explosives among women and children arriving in Nigeria's northeastern city of Maiduguri seeking to escape Boko Haram violence in the countryside.

Mohammed Kanar, a local coordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), said the blast happened on Sunday morning as the group arrived from Dikwa, 90 kilometres (56 miles) to the northeast.

The restive city of Maiduguri has repeatedly been attacked by Boko Haram and the latest bloodshed again underlines the threat posed by the Islamist group, which has been launching guerrilla-style attacks since being pushed out of its captured territory and camps by a Nigerian army offensive.

Kanar said the bomber in Sunday's attack was aged about 20 and struck as the group reached a checkpoint on the outskirts of Maiduguri.

"The IDPs (interally displaced persons), mostly women and children, were stopped for security checks at the checkpoint when the bomber, disguised as an IDP, sneaked in amongst them before setting off her explosives," he told AFP.

"Eight people were killed and seven others were injured in the incident."

Army spokesman Colonel Sani Usman gave the same account and toll.

There has been a wave of suicide and home-made bomb attacks against civilians in urban areas recently, particularly Maiduguri, which in October alone was hit six times, killing at least 54 people.

On Saturday, four teenage girls blew themselves up in a village near Fotokol, in Cameroon's far north region near the border with Nigeria, killing five, including a traditional chief.

Similar attacks have happened in Chad and Niger.

Dikwa was recaptured from Boko Haram in July and NEMA's Kanar said the town had seen an influx of people from surrounding villages seeking military protection but the authorities had struggled to cope.

"They had been short of supplies, mostly food and other items, which prompted some of them to move to Maiduguri," he added.

"We intend to make some relief distribution in the coming days."

The six-year Boko Haram insurgency has forced some 2.6 million people from their homes and left at least 17,000 dead.

The United Nations said this week that Maiduguri's population had swollen to 2.6 million following an influx of 1.6 million people fleeing the violence and its aftermath.

Already poor infrastructure in rural areas of Nigeria's northeast has been destroyed by the violence, with services such as healthcare and education devastated and agriculture severely hit by the unrest.

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has given his military commanders until next month to end the conflict but has conceded guerrilla-style attacks in urban centres could continue.
